My Great grandfather was Shelburn Hendrix
Morton he went by S.H. he married Edith Ann Lambert in Poplar
Bluff ,Missouri Butler County. They were married Jan. 4,1904 . I
have found out that he had a sister named Millie Morton she was
born in 1864 .I have not found out where yet .Her first marriage
she was married to Thomas Stone June 25, 1884 in Poplar Bluff.They
had one child Lillian G.Stone she was living in Jefferson Co.
Missouri in 1889.Millie's second husband was William D. Ham of
Poplar Bluff they were married Nov. 19 ,1892.They had one child
Abbie Louise Ham she was living in Carter co. in 1889.
I have found S.H. an Millie's father he was G.W.Morton
(George W.) he died Dec.31,1889 in Poplar Bluff , Missouri. I
know their mother was Abbie but have not been able to find them
being married as of yet.G.W. was born in Kentucky or that is what
it shows on the census. I have found were S.H. bought his first
farm in Poplar Bluff from his father in 1903 on the land deed it
says his farm lay north an east of Dan River 80 acres more or
less. In township 24 section 32 .I have also found a receipt in
his probate records of were S.H. payed for upkeep on the family
graveyard Morton Lambert Cemetery which was on his farm.On the
deed it said that he was buying all the land except the house an
garden now occupied by said G.W. Morton . My dad an I are still
searching for our family cemetery in Butler County.There are no
records of the cemetery at the Butler co. Library.If anyone has
ran across this cemetery I would sure appreciate hearing from you.
We believe that is were my great grandparents are buried an
possibly other family members.
Edith Ann Lambert was born in Indiana her
father was John D. Lambert he died in 1901 in Poplar Bluff ,
Missouri.He lived at Big Island in Butler Co. We found record
were they payed the undertakers to carry him from Big Island to
be buried in the family cemetery.I have found John an Edith
living in Butler Co. in 1880 census but did not have her mother .
